The Berlin Society for Mission History was founded in 1994 for the purpose of
scientific research in the field of mission history. The Society encourages
the dialogue between different scientific disciplines in the research of
Africa's, Asia's and the Pacific Region's past and present. The society
provides a forum for scientists who make use of mission archives and
encourages the debate about mission history between individuals from
the northern and southern hemisphere.
At present the society counts 90 members in Germany and abroad, 14
members reside in the Republic of South Africa. The decision making body
is the annual general meeting which is convened in Berlin every year. The
AGM elects a 10-member board, which meets regularly in the German
capital. Membership to the society is open to all interested individuals
and parties.
